INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
CONTENTS:
X1 - DRIVER SIDE BRACKET – DS
X1 - PASSENTER SIDE BRACKET – PS
X4- 6MM Threaded Retaining pin / Guides
X2 – 6mm Flat Head retaining bolt / nut
X2 – Rubber latch assembly
OPTIONAL: #10 SELF TAPPING SCREW x2 – 3/16” PRE DRILL REQUIRED – SECONDARY MECHANICAL MOUNTING POINT – REAR PLASTIC TAB RECESSION.
STEP ONE:
Remove plastic locking tab from o.e bumper mounting flange, remove metal plate. Quick release bracket will sit in the same location as the steel reinforcing plate. Plastic retainer will be replaced with 6mm retaining bolt/nut.
STEP TWO:
Install DS & PS brackets on bumper. Bracket holes are slotted to allow slight adjustment, some enlarging / elongating may be required on oem bumper holes. Pins are slightly larger diameter than the 6mm Bolts used to originally secure bumper. The 6mm flat head Bolt will rest in the bumpers countersunk area on mounting flange, nut will install from bottom side of bracket (same orientation as you received in shipment). Loc-tite recommended, this is the single mechanical retaining point when the bumper is not installed on the car. When installed the pins will clamp all three sections preventing separation.
Optional #10 self-tapping screws are included, this will be used in the secondary recessed tap area on the bumper cover flange. YOU MUST PRE DRILL WITH 3/16” DRILL TO AVOID SEPARATING /CRACKING BRACKET.
STEP THREE:
Trim bumper cover – As seen on the below diagram highlighted in yellow, the mounting flange and a small section of the inner fender guard will require trimming to accommodate the latch assembly. Less is more, Trim back the area highlighted in yellow until the bungle sits flush. We only want to remove enough material to clear the bungle assembly, this will be re-visited in step 6.
NOTE: DO NOT TRIM ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE OF THE BUMPER, THIS WILL CREATE A VISIBLE GAP.
STEP FOUR:
Install the retaining pins into original bumper mounting holes. Use a cordless drill to secure the stud section and slowly install into the threaded holes. Once fully installed you can install the nut on the backside essentially double nutting the pin in place. NOTE: Keep pins greased to prevent rust / corrosion, use anti-seize when installing dbl nut to prevent removal issues in the future.
STEP FIVE:
Slide the bumper onto the mounting pins, From the inside / inner fender mark the center of your trimmed section / rubber latch location onto the metal fender flange. Drill a single hole through the marked location on fender flange. We want the bracket to sit as close to the inside (engine side) of the flange as possible, this will reduce the amount of trimming required. There is a raised lip, make sure to keep this in mind when drilling hole as the strap retainer will need to sit on the inside of the flange. Step drill makes quick work and will allow you to up-size hole if needed. Easiest to install the lock nut from headlight opening.
NOTE: INSTALL FRONT BUMPER SUPPORT BOLTS, THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO MANIPULATE BUMPER COVER WITHOUT FIGHTING THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE BUMPER COVER.
STEP SIX:
Final Fitment – With both brackets installed and latches in place you will now be able to cam lock the bumper cover. If you find it difficult to remove / install bumper re-visit the trim step to ensure you have removed enough material.
